Swinging Pleats

London woke up gloriously to a beautiful sunny morning! A great day to write about another trend for this Spring/Summer: pleats.

Miuccia Prada is leading this trend, her catwalk show had a 50s feel, with amazing shoes following the lines of cars from this period.

Pleats enhance the movement of the body, as you walk you feel the fabric swinging with you. It's a lady-like look which reveals a subtle sensuality, blending harmoniously openness and restraint.

It brings to mind an accordion, its movement creates beautiful music and transports the mind elsewhere. It's the sound of Paris depicted by Amélie, an enchanting film with Audrey Tautou.

Pleats have an intertwined connection of opposing sides which has inspired other creative areas such as interior design and architecture.

In fashion, pleats were sprinkled over different shows, from Burberry to Bottega Veneta and Chloé. Different interpretations of the woman for whom the brand is aimed at but equally elegant.

The woman is a lady, confident about her femininity and power to seduce with no need to show off or expose herself too much.

Roberto Cavalli played with gold embellishments and different baroque patterns giving a more extravagant touch to the whole look.

When Spring comes you know what to wear if you want to feel like a lady! As in a dance, let your clothes move with you subtlety suggesting your body curves.
