London Fashion Week: Day 4

This was another very busy and exciting day covering shows and events, from Burberry Prorsum's elegant new shapes to a fashionable book launch.

Burberry Prorsum catwalk show

In the morning, Antonio Berardi presented a collection focused on sharp tailoring, with little waves of fabric producing clothes with different layers playing up with volume and shapes. His woman is definitely chic and exudes success!

It was nice to enjoy the sunshine near Tower Bridge before Michael Van Der Ham catwalk show. This Dutch-born designer worked with Alexander McQueen and Sophia Kokosalaki before venturing on his own and has already created showpieces for Bjork.

He combines different patterns and fabrics together constructing clothes in unexpected ways. The amazing shoes on the catwalk were by Christian Louboutin, each is a different vintage jacquard, but unfortunately they won't go into production.

But the show of the day was by Burberry Prorsum, this is a global brand which attracts the biggest names in the fashion industry and the most highly regarded celebrities.

It was in the same beautiful setting as last season - a tent in Kensington Garden - and elegance is the word that best describes the collection. Pencil skirts but with a spiral ruffle up the front, feminine belts with a bow, dark floral print dresses...

These are clothes for a lady, there is an element of the past, a certain nostalgia of a self-contained woman who knows exactly how to behave in whatever circumstances but Christopher Bailey has managed to translate this woman into the modern world with his incredible talent.

After this fabulous show, I went to the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrave Square to attend Vogue Italia Talents International Fashion showcase, which aims to promote the work of emerging Italian designers.

From clothes to bags and jewellery, there was an eclectic selection of designers with different strenghts and distinctive styles. The whole event was packed and the Director of Vogue Italia, Franca Sozzani, was also there supporting the young talents from her native country.

On my way to Stylists: New Fashion Visionaries book launch, I couldn't help but notice a fabulous window display at Selfridges, featuring a dress by Sorcha O'Raghallaigh.

Please read my post about Power Stylists to have a clearer idea about the book and Katie Baron, the author has answered a few questions for this blog. It's all about the celebration of the most influential stylists working today and how their vision has the power to shape fashion.

I leave you with two sophisticated dresses by Stella McCartney whose intimate presentation has been highly acclaimed by those who were able to be there.
